MGB Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center

The MGB Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children is dedicated to the care of children and adolescents with Multiple Sclerosis and related demyelinating disorders such as neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). Our staff specializes in the treatment of children with MS, and is dedicated to providing our patients with state of the art care. Our clinical facilities are customized for the care of children, and include the pediatric outpatient care at the Yawkey Outpatient Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Many of our personnel are also on staff at our partner institution, the adult MS Center located at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which is itself a leader in MS treatment and research, and provides continuity of care for our patients. We are conducting several research studies to better understand the causes and effects of MS and demyelinating diseases in children, and we have established collaborations with other national and international Centers to study these conditions. We conduct clinical trials for pediatric MS, and related disorders.

We have been selected as one of twelve regional Pediatric MS Centers of Excellence by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and we work with the other Centers and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as part of a network to provide comprehensive care and to conduct clinical research related to childhood multiple sclerosis.
